First Time A Country Bans ChatGPT!

This is the first time ChatGPT has been officially banned by a country. Here is the country where the event took place and all the details!

Italy’s Data Protection Authority (GPDP) has ordered the nationwide ban of ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence tool of the OpenAI company. It is stated that GPDP’s ban decision was taken on the grounds that OpenAI illegally collects data from Italian users. For this reason, it is stated that OpenAI should stop collecting the data of users in Italy or withdraw from the country.

It is stated that GPDP also draws attention to the fact that ChatGPT does not have any feature to protect individuals under the age of 18. This raises concerns about OpenAI’s collection of personal information from users based in Italy.

Ban Decision from the Italian Government to ChatGPT

Italian users will not be able to access ChatGPT if OpenAI does not follow GPDP’s instructions within 20 days. It is also stated that OpenAI will have to pay a fine of up to 20 million euros despite not complying with the ban. That’s why OpenAI needs to review its activities in Italy and act in line with GPDP’s wishes.

Bans ChatGPT

The Italian government’s decision to ban ChatGPT shows that artificial intelligence technology and data protection will be discussed more frequently. Also, the ban of Replika, which is also a chatbot, a few months ago shows the attitude of the Italian government towards artificial intelligence tools.

So, do you agree with the Italian government on artificial intelligence? You can share your thoughts with us in the comment section below.
