Fake Turkish Citizenship for 90 Thousand Dollars!

Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office filed a lawsuit against 57 members of the gang who defrauded immigrants with promises such as obtaining Turkish citizenship, residence and work permits, and extending their residence period.

Asking 33 questions about 57 people, the indictment was accepted at the Ankara 6th High Criminal Court.

The members of the gang, led by Cenk A., who works as the security chief at the General Directorate of Migration Management, include public officials, a lawyer and a former mayor. It was determined that the gang took millions of liras from foreign nationals for transactions such as obtaining Turkish citizenship, obtaining residence and work permits, and extending the residence period. In the indictment, it was also stated that the gang defrauded foreign nationals whose applications were negative, with the promise that they would be approved by adding them to the “exceptional citizenship list” that would go to the Ministry of Interior for 20 years. 30 thousand dollars. It was noted that the defendants gave the impression that their transactions were made to foreigners through members of the organization in the population directorates and provincial migration administrations, and they acted as if they were taking fingerprints without opening the system.

The indictment also included the statements of the victims who fell into the trap of fraudsters. Complainant Mehmet Zait Ö. Explaining that the gang demanded 90,000 dollars for the citizenship procedures of the two foreigners, he said, “I sent this money to Bülent E., who introduced himself as an intelligence officer. He did the temporary residence and identity information. Later, I learned that the document was fake.”

They Promised a Job

It was also revealed that the gang defrauded a citizen with the promise of “officer”. Veli A., who fell into the trap of the gang, said the following: “Sezgin T. openly said that he would appoint officers and place officers in these appointments. I gave Sezgin T. 5 thousand TL to do my brother’s job. Even after 3 years, my brother’s appointment still has not been made. I called but he didn’t pick up the phone,” he said.
