Did Russian Cosmonauts Support Ukraine?

Russia has rubbished reports suggesting its cosmonauts wore yellow suits with blue accents to show solidarity with Ukraine.

When the three cosmonauts arrived at the International Space Station (ISS), they wore suits in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. He thought that they were showing support for Ukraine, where Russia was conducting military operations.

Thereupon, in a statement made by Russia, it was stated that this idea was fictitious.

Cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev said that each team chose the colors about six months before launch, as the suits had to be sewn individually. He said that all three of them were chosen because they graduated from Bauman Moscow State Technical University and that’s why they chose their university colors.

In a statement to the Russian space agency’s Telegram channel, Artemyev said, “We do not need to look for any hidden signs or symbols in our uniform. A color is just a color. It is in no way affiliated with Ukraine . Otherwise, we would have had to recognize its rights over the yellow sun in the blue sky.

“Even though we are in space these days, we are with our president and our people,” he said.

Dmitry Rogozin, head of the space agency Roscosmos, tweeted a picture of the university crest to highlight the blue and yellow colors in the university’s logo to clarify the controversy.
