British Prime Minister Sunak Packs Aid Materials For Earthquake Victims

Prime Minister Sunak supported the students’ aid campaign. Reminding that he is a father, Sunak said, “I am sure that everyone has seen the situation of families trying to find their children and babies among the rubble.”

England sent a search and rescue team and medical personnel to Turkey after the earthquakes in Kahramanmaras.

The London administration also announced that it will provide 5 million pounds of aid to Turkey and Syria.

Participated in the Campaign for Earthquake Victims

Following the steps taken, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak joined the University College London (UCL) Turkish Student Union’s aid campaign for earthquake victims.

Helping students to sort and pack aid materials, Sunak also donated hats, scarves and blankets. Praising the work, Sunak said:

“They are gathering vital supplies to help those affected by this terrible tragedy in Turkey and Syria. We pack clothing, blankets, medical equipment and supplies, especially for children.”

Emphasizing that it is not easy to understand the extent of the destruction, Sunak drew attention to what happened:

Almost 20,000 people lost their lives. Cities were destroyed. As a father, I am sure that everyone has seen the plight of families trying to find their children, their babies in the rubble.

The British Prime Minister added that they will do their best to help Turkey.

200 Boxes of Aid Materials Collected

Eda Yildirimkaya, President of UCL Turkish Student Union, stated that they collected 200 boxes of aid materials as part of the campaign, and said:

The Prime Minister also donated very good quality caps, blankets and gloves to us. I’m sure it will keep someone warm and safe. He also congratulated us for what we did.

Student Togay Ata Gokalp also stated that Prime Minister Sunak’s visit was uplifting and said, “He encouraged us to do more.” made its assessment.
