Britain’s Satellite Launch Mission Fails
The first attempt to send a satellite into orbit from British soil failed.
A Boeing 747 aircraft carrying a rocket belonging to Virgin Orbit took off from Cornwall in southwest England.
The rocket then separated from the aircraft over the Atlantic Ocean and was fired.
However, Virgin Orbit announced that there was an “anomaly” that prevented the orbit from being reached in its Twitter posts on the subject.
The plane returned to Cornwall as scheduled.
Had the mission been successful, Britain would have been one of 9 countries to send spacecraft into Earth orbit.
