An Admirable Perseverance: 13-Year-Old Isabella Haddock Learned Turkish in 6 Months with Online Lessons!

Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival will be held for the 59th time this year. Details about the movie Hara, which is among the award nominees, attracted attention.
The first show of the film Hara, starring Nehir Erdoğan and Dolunay Soysert, took place at Atatürk Cultural Center Aspendos Hall.
After the show, the actors had an interview with Atalay Taşdiken, the director and screenwriter of the film, and drew attention by placing chairs with the names of Mine Özerden and Çiğdem Mater on them.
But the most striking point of the interview was 13-year-old Isabella Haddock. Director Taşdiken gave a special mention to the young actress during his thank you speech and said, “When we first met Isabella, she was living in the US and didn’t speak Turkish. Within 6 months, she learned Turkish with online lessons.”
‘When I sent this film here, I didn’t think it would be selected. Our art cinema is stuck in a cliché that it has to have an ambiguous, pessimistic ending. I would like to thank the pre-jury for finding this film worthy of selection. My aim in making cinema is to touch people. I find works that do not touch the audience unsuccessful. When we first met Isabella, she was living in the US and did not speak Turkish. Within 6 months she learned Turkish with online lessons.’
Isabella Haddock, who learned Turkish with online lessons in 6 months in order to get a role in the movie, said, “I feel very lucky to work with a very valuable team at this age.“
