AFAD Announced That 6 More Provinces Have Been Declared as Disaster Areas!

After two major earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, dozens of cities were destroyed and more than 50 thousand people lost their lives. While 11 provinces where destruction took place were declared disasterareas, new ones were added to these provinces today.

In the statement made by AFAD, after 11 provinces destroyed as a result of earthquakes were declared as disaster zones, 6 more provinces were declared disaster zones due to the increase in destruction and damaged buildings.

6 More Provinces Declared as Disaster Areas

The full statement of AFAD stating that the 6 new provinces declared as disasterareas are Bingöl, Kayseri, Mardin, Tunceli, Niğde and Batman are as follows:

“Due to the destruction and loss of life caused by the earthquake disasters that took place on 06.02.2023, 11 of our provinces and Sivas’s Gürün district were accepted as Disaster Areas Affecting General Life.

The earthquakes in question affected some of our cities apart from 11, and as a result of damage assessment studies;

It was determined that there were buildings with light, medium and heavy damage in some settlements in the provinces of Bingöl, Kayseri, Mardin, Tunceli, Niğde and Batman.

For this reason, settlements with damaged buildings in the said provinces have been accepted as Disaster Areas Affecting General Life.
