Finally, we found a very rare artifact. This is a seal. We unearthed it in the first commercial area of the city. A 5,000 year old seal. Made of terracotta. A type of seal carried by hanging around the neck. About 3 centimeters in diameter. Important, extremely rare. It can only happen in commercial areas. We can see them in some settlements such as Troy on the trade routes or in Central Anatolia. This artifact from Yassıtepe is the second seal found in the coastal Aegean region after Troy. One example exists in Troy, and the second was found here. The seal is used in commercial life as it is today. It is used by pressing a dough or clay. He said it is being used to document commercial activity.

Assoc. Dr. Derin stated that the second artifact found reveals the social structure of the settlement, adding that our second artifact is used only in tombs and social structures. It’s a double bowl. The container called ‘Pyxis’ is about 25 centimeters tall. It can be a box in which women keep their rare and valuable items such as jewellery. It emerges as a pot made of terracotta that only private individuals can use,” he said.
